27/11/2004

The following Press Release is being sent for week commencing 29th November 2004. The government is making available £1 billion for PE and sport in schools. All schools in England will benefit in some way, enhancing sporting opportunities for 5-16 year olds.

The Football Association is engaged in the programme to ensure that young children have the opportunity to move beyond the curriculum to a safe, fun and progressive football club in the community.

F.A. Charter Standard Development club, Redditch United Girls have set up with funding from the Worcestershire F.A. as part of the programme a School Club link with three Redditch first schools, Webheath, Woodrow and Vaynor, to bring this to local girls. Each has received coaching in weekly sessions from F.A. qualified and Club coach, Julie Whittingham and will cumulate in a football festival to be held on Friday 10th December.

The event will take place at Arrow Vale Community High School between 1pm and 3pm and it is expected more than 70 girls will take part. RUGFC, along with the Arrow Vale Specialist Sports College will be supporting the event by providing the coaches on the day.
