Redditch Sports Awards

30/11/2005

This year saw the inaugural Redditch Sports Award Evening held at the Redditch Town Hall. A packed auditorium saw people from all walks of life related to sport in the Redditch and surrounding area. There was contribution from all sectors of sport and ages ranging from 5 through to...well I won't mention

RUGFC had a number of nominations including Coaching and Administration functions of the Club and also in the team and individual sporting achievement sections. Whilst the coaching and admin sides were recognised no one was successful in achieving an award but congratulations goes to the members of the Club who were nominated.

However RUGFC was successful in the Junior Team of the Year won by where this seasons Under 12's Central Warks Girls League side for the efforts last season in winning the Divison Two title and for their current performance this season which sees them topping the Premier Division. The positive attitude in this team is not only a credit to the Club but to manager Mark Creedy and those volunteers who help run this successful side.

The Club was also honoured that a member of this seasons current U16 squad Katrina Hart won the Sports Disability Personality of the Year Award for her terrific performances in the Athletics European Championships held in Helsinki, where she won individual Bronze in the 200 metres and Team Silver in the overall Games. Katrina (Kit-Kat) as she is known by everyone has been with Redditch since Under 10's and has achieved 'Elite' athelete status in the British set up. Because of this she has been reduced to being more of a spectator this season but is still a regular attendee at RUGFC matches, whilst Mom continues to be a member of the Committee.

These awards continue to grow the impressive list of achievements bestowed on RUGFC and further underpins the Club's ethos of total inclusion for everyone wishing to play association football. Again congratulations to all those who were nominated and to those that won awards.
