Girls enjoy Wembley treat 24.08.2007
REDDITCH United under 10s girls team sampled the hallowed turf at Wembley Stadium earlier this month as part of the FA/McDonald’s national football festival. They joined 40 other teams from around the country at the event, which was introduced by World Cup winner Sir Geoff Hurst, England manager Steve McClaren and West Ham legend Sir Trevor Brooking.
The team were representing Worcestershire after being drawn out of a bag at the recent Chartered Standards award evening hosted by the county FA. The girls graced the pitch for twelve minutes before making the long walk up the 107 steps to the Royal Box to collect their individual medals.
