20/12/2008: Jets Hold West Hagley (Briefly)

West Hagley Girls 7 - 0 Redditch United Girls Under 12 Jets

The match started badly with West Hagley Girls going ahead very early on in the match through a mix up in defence. The Jets lost control from that point on with West Hagley dominating the half scoring again and again. Their main player driving a strong attack with persistent pressure.

At half time West Hagley placed their main attacking player in to goal after sustaining an injury in the first half. Graham (Manager) and Ceri (Coach) gave a rallying half time talk to the Jets which lifted them going in to the second half.

The difference, amazing... The Jets came out after half time focused and with renewed hope. It was not long before the Jets actually strung some exceptional passes to attack the West Hagley goal. It was three parts of the way through the second half after a very even game that West Hagley manager substituted their goalie back in to the attack resulting in West Hagley gaining a few further goals to finish the match

Second half the Jets held West Hagley even with a few goal mouth scrambles this was by far their best half. In certain instances, best performance to hold a very strong, focused team for so long in the second half

Overall lack of games did not help the Jets but as a first season they are linking training in to match play with each and every game played.

Looking forward

Going into this seasons 2009 games, hopefully with consecutive games, I think the jets can gain some valuable needed goals to lift the side. This season is very much a young team gaining a team spirit and understanding of the game.

The bonding as players is a strong element to the new season for 2009/2010. Additional players would also help as the last few games played the Jets struggle to field a team with subs to help mix up the team and give players 5 minutes rest bite during the matches.

Final comment.... Excellent game second half and a well fought match Well Done The Jets !
