Redditch started quite brightly and had
early opportunities but no one wanted to take responsibility for
shooting and each chance was a pass too many. Bullets playing deep and
attacking on the break had few chances but when they forced a corner
poor defending from the Reds allowed them to prod the ball home from 4
yards.
Redditch looked they had redeemed
themselves when a well worked and taken goal from Jess Lingham got them
level. Not long after Redditch was awarded a penalty by Linghams effort
was well saved and the Redditch players were too slow to the follow up
and Bullets scrambled it away. Redditch soon after gave away a penalty
when a ball bounced up and hit a defenders arm, Bullets actually put the
ball in the net but the referee had already blown. It made little
difference as the ball was struck firmly into the net from the spot
kick.
The second half saw a similar pattern,
Redditch having most of the possession but failing to to do anything
with it. Another needless corner was given away and this time Bullets
scored direct from this, the Redditch goalkeeper failing to pick the
ball up in it's flight. Chances still came Redditch's way and at last a
second goal was scored but with only a few minutes remaining and Bullets
running down the clock an equaliser was beyond them.
Overall the Reds showed little team spirit
other than the last few minutes of the game, a situation that once
corrected will see much improved performances. |
