Redditch opted to revert to a format more
familiar to last season with the players from then and arranged the
remainder of the team around this core. It appeared to have the desired
results as Redditch dominated the first 20 minutes of the game and were
rewarded with 2 goals. Several chances were missed before Lingham scored
and with 5 minutes Smith had forced the Medics defence into conceding a
second. Things still looked good as the Reds had other chances but
failed to increase their lead.
This gave some heart to the Medics who
started to get into their stride and scored pouncing on a loose ball
from a wayward defensive header. Leading up to half time the equaliser
came after the Reds were caught attempting to catch the Medics attack
offside and all the early hard work was undone.
In the second half the Medics gained the
upper hand and had most of the chances with Redditch lucky not to
concede further. The Reds did have some half chances of their own but in
the main Redditch had to battle and with a little more composure
Birmingham could have taken all three points.
This was a much improved performance from
Redditch which saw the team become more of a unit then in the previous
two games and gives encouragement for better things to come. |
