Redditch United carried on where they left
off last week with an 8-2 demolition against Warndon Wildcats!!
A dominating first half display against
unbeaten league leaders Marston Green. Redditch showed a commitment and
desire to be the first to every ball and with most of the first half
played in the oppositions half it was inevitable that the break through
was going to come. It did in the 16th minute with a well taken goal by
Ellie Moses. Redditch continued to pile on the pressure looking for the
second, but to no avail.
The second half we knew Marston Green was
going to come at us strong but we were prepared and within 3 minutes
Sarah Badger scored her 12th goal of the season with an excellent well
taken, on the turn strike which left their keeper with no chance. After
this Redditch seemed to relax which allowed Marston Green, the good side
which they are, a chance to start pushing forward and claw their way
back into the game.
Redditch were still creating chances and Ellie
Moses, with a brilliant strike, which was goal bound and superbly saved
by the excellent Marston Green goalkeeper, was pushed onto the post.
With 5 minutes to go. after a corner and a penalty box scramble ,the
ball was only half cleared and fell to their player who took a looping
shot over the despairing Keeper, Helen Racki who got her hand to it but
was unable to divert the ball over the bar.
The last few minutes of the game Marston
Green were pressuring and searching for that equaliser but the Redditch
Defence stood resilient and saw out the game to claim the victory they
truly deserved.
An excellent team performance by all with
an outstanding display in all areas of the pitch
