After last weeks upbeat match against
Tipton, this game was always going to be a tester. With 3 players absent
from last weeks team the dynamics of the side changed, and whilst squad
players replaced them the balance wasn't quite there and it took a
little while to get any kind of play going.
The teams appeared to want to just kick the
ball back and forth between them and it took a smashing goal from
Lingham before Redditch started to produce any football of note. Bullets
worked hard and had some nice touches but seldom threatened, any attack
was dealt with by the 'new ' back four line up. Stanley with a cool one
on one finish and Leroux scoring an 'intelligent' goal added to the
tally to reach the half time whistle with a respectable score given the
chances.
The second half saw much the same with
chances be made only for the final finish not to be there, the Reds
began to grow in confidence though and with Christy Thomas being moved
from the back four into midfield a more progressive Redditch started to
capitalise on the possession. Goals from the ever willing Leroux and
Lingham were added to by Stanley who completed her first hatrick of the
season. Lingham was unfortunate not to also have three goals after a
simple tap in finish was adjudged offside although the ball appeared to
be played backwards from Stanley.
In a game of little skill on the soft and
uneven pitch, Frampton show that endeavour pays rewards and Lingham
started to see the benefit of competing for every ball. Next week will
show another changed team due to player availability and this set of
players needs to show the same competitive spirit to extend the teams
current good run of form. |
