Redditch started the game on the best note
although after seeing an immediate Studley attack from kick off one
could have thought it was going to be a bad night for the Reds. After a
cagey first couple of minutes a decisive break found Smith on the edge
of the visitors penalty box and the stand in strikers shot was just a
little too powerful for the Studley keeper to parry away.
Studley then had a fair deal of possession
and won a number of corners, but these cam to nothing and they were
caught by a sucker punch when another long kick from Grigg in the
Redditch goal found Lingham whose first attempt was stop by the keeper
but Lingahm followed up and managed to tap the ball home. The game then
became a rather even affair until half time.
The second half saw Redditch play with much
more confidence and the team work, spirit, determination and discipline
began to show resulting in a superb second hat-trick for Lingham with
the best goal of the match coming from a sweeping move that saw the ball
played out the left and Leroux outpacing her defender and delivering a
superb low level cross for Lingham to side foot home.
The Reds had chances through out the half
and despite Studley having a few corner kicks the Reds looked the
stronger and with their defence getting more dominant as the game went
on the Studley attack faltered.
A late free kick offered Studley an
opportunity to get a consolation goal but the shot was fired over the
bar, giving Grigg another clean sheet.
A
true team performance produced this excellent result.
