Studley reacted well to the recent defeat
by their visitors and defended resolutely throughout the game.
Identifying that Redditch were able to catch them out at the back for
speed Studley pulled their quickest players into defence in an attempt
to stiffle the Redditch attack.
The tactic appeared to have worked as
Redditch were unable to break them down. Several chances did come the
Reds way but a combination of good defending, sharp goalkeeping and poor
finishing saw the first half goalless with Studley reaching half time
much the happier of the teams.
The second half saw more of the same with the Redditch goal keeper
having little to do. Eventually the dealock was broken when a flowing
move saw Jess Stanley lay a ball in to the path of Laura Perkins whose
shot flew passed the Studley keeper so quickly she was unable to react
to even make an attempt to save.
This turned out the only goal and Studley after this looked more
threatening as they pushed players forward and a weak shot saw stand-in
Redditch keeper Laura Tilley easily collect the ball and in the last
moments a goalward bound shot was superbly blocked by Toni McQuaid.
Redditch picked a vital and ultimately well deserved three points.
