Redditch played their final friendly before the start of the league
fixtures on 5th September with a well deserved victory over tough
opponents Tipton.
The game was evenly set through out the 90 minutes with both teams
making regular changes, however the Reds scored first after good play
from Jacqui Edwards who won the ball in midfield setting off an attack
culminating in a confidently finish from Helen Racki.
The second half saw limited chances from either team but the Reds gained
a breathing space when a speculative lobbed shot from Concannon bounced
over the line and into the net. Tipton pulled one back when the Reds
keeper didn't manage to hang on to a bobbling ball and the visitors
forward neatly spun and shot the ball in the unguarded goal.
Debut's by Gemma Taylor and Alex Cann were both positive and although
the beginning of the season looks like it may be a steep learning curve
quick progression looks a real possibility.
