With a damp pitch and the weather threaten sunshine, but still cold, the
Jets slowly emerged from the Changing rooms with them seeming to be
wide-eyed and ready to go.
Game started fairly slowly and no team really took advantage to get on
top, then without any warning Leamington caught the jets still thinking
about there beds and hit a low hard shot from the left , 1-0, from then
on Leamington where putting consistent pressure on the defence and with
the midfield seeming to rather stand there and watch than help out,
Leamington hit a high ball in the box, jets keeper lost grip when the
ball came back down for Leamington to slot home for there second, (2-0),
However this also seemed to turn the game completely and with Leamington
starting to look a little tired in areas, it looked like our midfield
had decided to wake up, on 30-minutes Tiegan Rice started putting
pressure on the right, passing the ball to Charlie White, who shot and
it just glanced past the post, from the resulting goal kick, Vicky
miller picked the ball up in midfield and with a nice through ball to
Georgie Leiws who passed the ball across the box, where Charlie White
hit the first strike back (2-1),
Jets started to think they could actually get something back here and
fought hard in all areas, determined not to let another in by half-time.
Half-time came and the Jets came of buzzing and couldn't wait to get
back on.
Game restarted much how it finished with the midfield and forwards
passing purposefully with the belief they could get something from the
match, however Leamington are a good passing side and didnt want to take
it lying down and constantly battled in midfield, but in the end it was
Jets who broke the defence down and Charlie White put her second away,
again from the kick off, Jets pounced and where now looking for the
winner, with confidence oozing out of every sweat pore the jets broke
into the box, the shot was saved and georgie Lewis picked up the rebound
only to be bought down.
Penalty !! Charlie White steps up and hits the ball low and hard to the
left, (there is no stopping her or the Jets today) and again at kick of
f they come bouncing out the traps, looking for a fourth, but alas
Both the jets and Leamington worked really hard and it was truly a great
evenlly matched game, also like to thank our usual Cheerleaders for
turning up and spurring the girls on
