Redditch returned to league action for the first time in many weeks and
to boot at home! After relocating grounds due to the ineptness of the
Abbey Stadium staff the Reds found themselves against an under strength
Tamworth side and unfortunately decided the game was won before the
start whistle had blown.
Redditch suffered the same problems as all season, making lots of
chances but failing to put them away and it was a corner from Natalie
Leroux that was deflected into Tamworths net by a defender that opened
the scoring. More chances came and went but it was terrific 23 yards
strike from Hannah Patrick that added the second, the third came from
Kellie Smith using her strength to win and cross the ball for Leroux to
calmly fire passed the keeper from 12 yards.
Redditch started brightly in the second with a goal from Jess Lingham
between a brace from Smith. Redditch then went back to their bad ways
and allowed and let Tamworth off the hook. The visitors worked extremely
hard and deserved getting on to the score sheet to the disappointment of
the Redditch Management team but the game was closed out at 6-1.
