In another game where Redditch looked like not doing themselves justice
the women managed to get all 3 points. In a first 25 minutes where
neither team looked likely to find the net Redditch eventually put some
neat passes together which resulted in pressure on the Tipton goal and
Melissa Mason slid the ball in to the corner of the net.
Unfortunately the Reds then switched off and a simple over the top ball
directly from the restart saw a Tipton striker run down on goal, despite
a super save from Kirsty Grigg the rebound fell nicely to a Tipton
player whose shot crept inside the far corner of the net. Redditch then
missed some half chances before the half time whistle. A clumsy
challenge from Leroux gave away an unnecessary penalty which was
despatched with aplomb, leaving an uphill struggle for the hosts.
Again Redditch created a number of opportunities but failed to
capitalise until a mix up in the Tipton defence resulted in Leroux
tapping the ball in to the net. A draw looked on the cards until a
determined double challenge from Dani Lewis won the ball which fell to
Leroux whose 23 yard shot beat the Tipton keeper and entered the goal
just under the bar. With just a couple of minutes left Tipton were
unable to respond and can feel very unfortunate not to have got anything
from the game
