The women started slowly in this game and never really got any quicker.
Showing lack of desire to win the game or even compete at times the Reds
went behind when a City forward headed unchallenged in to the net.
Redditch could have gone further behind when Coventry found the net
again after a fumble from Kirsty Grigg in goal, however the City forward
had controlled the ball with her hands and the referee gave a free kick.
This spurred Redditch on and a short period of concerted possession and
sheer determination by Natalie Leroux resulted in a strong run and
simple pull back for Kellie Smith to score from 6 yards. Coventry
started the second half more forcefully and had a couple of chances
which were thwarted by Grigg but eventually a ball straight through the
centre saw the City forward outpace the Reds defence and score.
Redditch never responded and continued to play at a slow pace giving
Coventry the initiative and a third goal again from a header that should
have been cut out. Another disappointing performance and result. With
five games left further points will only be possible with a change in
attitude and more concerted effort shown
