From the start Redditch battled against the pitch and the wind; although with Ladies United directing their play through the centre of the pitch, it was difficult to avoid the dodgy ‘sandpits’. Yet this didn’t stop our attack with great pace and use of the wings.

With the opposing side receiving the advantage of the wind, it produced an early goal opportunity. Kirsty came out to meet and despite an awful bounce, made a successful one handed clearance. This was a wake-up call and from then on we went on to score 5 consecutive goals. One from a corner which was delivered by Sarah Badger and after an attempt from Katherine Christopher, the rebound fell to Kerry Badger to slot the ball into the back of the net. A further four goals came by good passing of the ball into the spaces; even when offside decisions were frustrating; the first half ended with a positive 5-0 lead.

During the second half our opportunities on goal continued to test the Ladies defence. Crosses from Natalie Leroux provided many chances to the forward line and eager midfield who were all keen to join the score sheet. Pressure and consistent effort led to two further goals from Nat Leroux and Kerry Badger both completing well deserved hat tricks. With strong support from the back four, who held their position steadfastly, we finished the game with a worthy 7-0 win.

Deservedly, Jess Dyer was awarded player of the match with her constant battling and ‘hands on’ approach to defending.
