This week we knew we had a challenge ahead of us but this didn’t faze us, it made us more determined.

Today the low sun made it extremely difficult to see across the ground, coupled with a hard ball on a bobbly pitch made things difficult for both sides. However, we cannot blame these conditions as the first half provided both Redditch and Withymoor with many goal opportunities.

Both teams struggled to dominate the play, Withymoor having the greater possession but Redditch creating possibly the better opportunities going close several times:

Goalkeepers coming out on top, the only thing getting into the back of the net was a spectator’s dog!!!

This week, Redditch managed to pass and move successfully with support from the back four. Delivery from midfield sent the strikers down the channels and past the defence but we couldn’t score. The first half ended 0-0.

The second half started with Redditch showing greater determination winning more of the loose ball pushing Withymoor back and creating several good one on one chances. However a swift break from the back and a long through ball saw the home team centre forward race on, to chip the oncoming Keeper taking the lead. This spurred Withymoor on and increasing pressure around the Redditch box brought the best out of the defence and Kirsty, who made several excellent saves before finally being beaten by a well-placed header from a driven cross.

Redditch continued to push for something from the game but couldn’t manage to beat the home keeper who also pulled off several good saves.

Although we lost the game 2-0, every player showed determination and considering Lynda … was carrying an injury, her first game for Redditch showed great potential.
Player of the match: Katherine Christopher, who used her skill and strength to her best ability; easily taking on players and shooting when appropriate.
