Today Redditch were set to play
Pershore, who they lost 3-1 to last week. The girls knew
they were unfortunate to loose last week with 2 of the goals
being down to sloppy play so were out to prove themselves
today. For the majority of the first half Redditch played
well coming close to scoring on several occasions, but
unfortunately it was Pershore who were to take the lead with
2 quick goals just before the half time whistle. While the
first goal was a well executed strike, the second was more
down to players being un aware of their surroundings, but
Redditch were not going to let this get them down.
As soon as the second half got underway Redditch were
battling and were determined to get a goal back. Katie
attempted to capitalise on a few good balls but was unable
to put the finishing touches on the play. Meanwhile in
defence both Maisie and Jess made excellent tackles and
applied pressure onto the Pershore attack forcing the
strikers to make mistakes. These strong styles of play from
the back enabled the attackers to again make more chances
before the final whistle but were unable to gain a goal
back.
Redditch were unlucky today as they played much better than
they did last week, unfortunately so did Pershore which
resulted in a similar score line. Jess Notley is awarded
player of the Match this week for her constant hard work and
pressure in defence.
