What more can I say about this fabulous girls team? Just when I think
they can’t play any better, they put on a performance like this. On a
really windy day they play their best passing and shooting for a long
while.
Again, another full turn out for the game, when I should have stayed in
bed, like Mark. Only joking Mark, I know you were still Christmas
shopping for my present.
We started off with Georgia in goal, Amy T, Megan, and Becky at the
back, Sarah, Beth and Amie I midfield, and Jade and Jodie up front.
Bryony started on the bench and came on later to play an important role
for us. With a very strong wind blowing across the pitch our girls
sensibly played the ball on the ground to build up some good attacking
moves, but an improved Vipers side held out, with some good tackling and
good saves from their keeper , until the 20th minute, when Jade hit a
fantastic shot from outside the box which gave the goalie no chance.
Reds 1-0.
Four minutes later, another good build up from Beth and Sarah put Jade
in again on goal for a long run and shot past the diving goalie to make
it Reds 2-0, 24mins.
The second half started with the wind getting even stronger making
control of the ball even more difficult but our girls still tried their
best to play good football, with another goal coming from Jade after
another good build up from midfield, a pass from Beth to Jade to shoot
from the corner of the area, curling the ball past the keeper, 32mins
Mighty Reds 3-0, Jade with her hat trick!
Good defending from Amy T , Bryony (back on the pitch), and Megan kept
out any threat from the Vipers attack, and leading to some more
attacking moves leading up to another goal from Jade, who was running
rampant now, back to her former self, shooting at goal and following it
up to fire home at the second attempt, a very good save from the first
shot. 48mins Reds 4-0. As usual, Sarah was all over the pitch and was
unlucky not to get on the score sheet with some good attempts.
Even more good moves from all the girls eventually left Beth with an
opening which she took with a clever side foot shot to hammer home for a
5-0 victory. Credit to the Vipers girls though for never giving up and
providing us with a tough game and having some good attacks which were
kept out by good defending led by player of the match Amy T, and all the
girls again giving their best to provide a good win to take us up to
fourth in the table.
A hard away game next week against Pershore to look forward to.
Come on the Mighty Reds.
